Sound is a vibration that travels through the air or any other medium and can be heard when it reaches of persons or animals ear. The inner ear is shaped like a snail and there are thousands of tiny little hair cells that change the vibrations into electrical signals that are sent to your brain through a nerve. The brain then tells you that you're hearing a sound and can generally identify what it is based on past experiences.
